The Malibu Eco is powered by a mild hybrid system, or what Chevy is calling their "eAssist" system. Like a traditional hybrid, it features a 15 kW electric motor to boost its fuel-efficiency. Unlike traditional hybrids, the motor doesn't assist with acceleration. Instead, it powers things like the radio, headlights, and air-conditioning. Supported by start-stop technology and regenerative braking, it provides some of the best fuel economy available today.

Chevrolet didn't stop at just the motor, either. The new Malibu Eco has been efficiently designed with an aerodynamic shape, aeroshutters that guide airflow around the vehicle, low-rolling resistance tires, and an Eco Gauge to help driver monitor their efficient driving habits.

You know what another benefit of the mild hybrid system is? A lower MSRP than traditional hybrids. That's right, for only $25,995, the Malibu Eco comes standard with antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and eight standard airbags. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention the heated mirrors, auto headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, OnStar, and touchscreen infotainment that also come standard on the Eco.
