Chevy is saying that this is their powerful Camaro ever, with a 6.2-liter, supercharged and intercooled LSA V8 engine. The 580 horses and 556 lb-ft of torque is just the beginning here, with the Camaro's 0-60 time clocked at an impressive 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. Quarter-mile time for this bad boy? 12 seconds at 119 mph.

The automaker gave this Camaro ZL1 a suite of electronic suspension and steering enhancements. The package comes standard and is called Performance Traction Management. It includes magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control, stability control and electric power steering. It's also track-ready, with a standard rear differential cooler, engine and transmission oil coolers, and brake-cooling ducts.

Alright, now let's talk numbers. Competing vehicles in the same segment as the Camaro with similar power capabilities have base prices that start well above the $100,000 mark. The starting MSRP for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, however, is just $54,995. Options include automatic transmission with tap shift controls ($1,185), an aluminum wheel package ($470), power sunroof ($900), striping ($470), a carbon fiber hood insert ($600) and a suede package ($500). That means you can get your Camaro ZL1 fully loaded for under $60,000.
