Help Chevy Plant Trees Across the Nation

We all know how important a reliable vehicle is to get to work, cart the kids around, or take road trips to visit family and friends. But, we are also very aware of the impact each of those trips has on the environment.  But thanks to automakers like Chevy, we can worry less about our carbon footprint while we invest in a safe, reliable and eco-friendly vehicle to help us with our daily chores. What's more - they recognize that not everybody can simply rush out and buy a plug-in hybrid like the Chevy Volt. With their new Tree Project, Chevy is reducing their carbon footprint via the internet.

Recently, Chevrolet joined forces with the National Forest Association to reach a goal of planting 175,000 trees by the end of 2012. Each tree planted today will help absorb carbon dioxide from the environment for years to come.  Which is why, for every person who plants a "virtual tree" on their Facebook page, Chevy will plant a real one. Each tree planted will not only help offset carbon production, the rebuilding of our nation's forests will provide safe habitats for wildlife, more outdoor recreation opportunities, and even a more beautiful landscape.

This is just a small part of Chevy's overall goal of reducing their carbon footprint by 8-million metric tons. The $40-million investment is well under way, and the automaker invites you to track their progress on their website, to calculate your own carbon footprint, and easily plant a virtual tree while you're there. While they estimate that it could take up to five years to reach their ultimate goal, with your help, it could be sooner. And, it won't cost you anything to help. All you need is a Facebook account.

It's really that easy! To get started, go to www.chevrolettreeproject.com. After you've planted your tree, be sure to check back here for more news and updates from Chevy. Remember, Cole Krum Chevrolet, (343 W Prairie St Vicksburg, MI 49097), is dedicated to keeping you informed!
